Severe weather conditions are causing some problems around the capital, so keep an eye on this page for updates. Motorists and pedestrians are urged to take care. The main incidents reported and logged are:

  • Wellington Railway Station passenger underpass and interchange
  • Taranaki and Ghuznee street intersection, CBD
  • Curtis St, Northland
  • Main Road and Willowbank Road Tawa
  • Churchill Drive, by rail station
  • 123 Overtoun Tce, Kilbirnie
  • Monorgan Road Kilbirnie – Scotts College is affected
  • Rama Cres in Khandallah
  • Kenya Street in Ngaio
  • Oriental Bay near Freyberg Pool

  • Landslip 83 Awa Road blocking road and sump causing flooding

  • Large Pohutakawa Branch fallen at Miramar and Maupuia Community Centre & Civil Defence Centre
  • Tree fallen on power lines near Volga St in Island Bay - Wellington Electricity notified
  • Wire hanging down near Jackson St in Island Bay - Wellington Electricity notified
  • Power line down in Trent St in Island Bay - Wellington Electricity notified 
  • Traffic light blown down cnr Everton Tce/Boulcott st
  • Blue Steel clothing bin has fallen over in the wind at 48 Apuka St, Brooklyn
  • Flooding around #2 Todman Street in Brooklyn
  • Flooding on Main Road in Tawa
  • Flooding on Willowbank Road in Tawa
  • Flooding from gutters at Karori Community Centre

Motorists and pedestrians are urged to take care. The main incidents reported and logged are:

  • Tree down on Moana Road, Kelburn
  • Tree down Para Street, Miramar – large pohutukawa
  • Tree down Makara Road, between the school and Makara Beach – large pine
  • Tree down near City Cards shop on Lambton Quay
  • Tree branches down Park Ave, Tawa
  • Tree down on Cockayne Road in vicinity of #189
  • Streetlight dangling on Orchy Crescent, Southgate
  • Reports of recycling wheeli-bins blowing around in Newtown, the southern suburbs, and Oriental Bay and Roseneath areas
  • The transfer station at the Southern Landfill is closed to commercial and domestic drop-offs due to dangerous winds. The recycling area and Tip Shop are still open
  • There are some delays to public transport, check the Metlink website for latest updates
