Central Library to reopen

Wellington’s Central Library will reopen on Saturday morning (19 November) for normal working hours.

Wellington City Council Chief Executive Kevin Lavery said it was a bit of a milestone for Wellington as it was the last Council facility to reopen after Monday’s earthquake.

The Central Library will be open for normal working hours from tomorrow. The second floor will remain closed to the public for the time being to allow staff to clean up the area and re-shelve any books that have been dislodged.

Mr Lavery said he was pleased that the Council’s core services – in particular drinking, waste and stormwater, rubbish and recycling collection, pools and recreation centres – had continued to run throughout the emergency.
