Non-delivery of election mail in Maupuia

Wellington City Council’s Electoral Officer, Warwick Lampp has been informed that New Zealand Post has identified an issue with the non-delivery of mail in Maupuia. This has affected 667 voters in 13 streets in Maupuia, Miramar.

“New Zealand Post has advised me that they have discovered that over the last week there was a non-delivery issue for approximately 3,000 mail items in Maupuia. This has included voting documents for 667 electors. I am most disappointed that it has taken NZ Post so long to advise me. Having said that, NZ Post has taken appropriate steps to remedy this issue immediately, all voting documents will be delivered tomorrow.”

This has not affected all households in Maupuia. The streets concerned are parts but not all of:

  • Akaroa Drive
  • Arahanga Grove
  • Aramoana Place
  • Aranui Street
  • Booth Street
  • Brussels Street
  • Countess Close
  • Duchess Place
  • Maupuia Road
  • Tauhinu Road
  • Ropa Lane
  • Waiwera Cresent
  • Zaida Way

All affected residents have already been identified by NZ Post and their voting documents will be delivered by special NZ Post courier delivery tomorrow morning, Friday 30 September, along with an apology letter from NZ Post.

Voting closes at midday on Saturday 8 October. It is not possible to extend the voting period so I encourage voters in Maupuia whose voting documents are delayed to vote over the weekend. I remind all electors that voting in council elections is their chance to have their say in how the city is governed for the next three years.

If you have any difficulty with your voting documents, or haven't received them, please contact the Council Electoral Office for a special vote.
