Hurricanes victory parade changed to Wednesday

The Hurricanes are Super Rugby champions! Now it’s time for Wellingtonians to celebrate the team’s success - with a victory parade on Wednesday (changed from Tuesday to ensure the weather comes to the party too!)

The parade will leave Parliament on Wednesday (10 August) at 12 noon in open-topped vehicles, travelling along Lambton Quay to Willis Street and on to Mercer Street before arriving in Civic Square about 12.30pm. The presentations will conclude around 1pm.

There will be opportunities for the public to get autographs as the team members walk through Civic Square.

Wellington Mayor Celia Wade-Brown says: “We are all so proud the Canes could raise the Super Rugby trophy on their home ground. Now it’s time for everyone to get out and show them the love!”

Once the team has assembled at Civic Square there will be a congratulatory speech from Mayor Wade-Brown and a response from the Hurricanes.
