What happened to this consultation?

We asked for feedback from the community on the design concept for the Harrison Street play area.

We had positive feedback on the design, and have made some slight adjustments to the plan after hearing feedback from the public.

Some changes we made to the previous concept design include:

  • We have retained a decent sized kick-around area of grass, and will install some drainage, which should improve its useability over the wetter months.
  • We have added a picnic table.
  • We are keeping the existing furniture on site, but have added more areas for people to relax.
  • Due to consideration of nearby residents, we have decided to remove the musical bongo drums.
  • This section will be replaced by the curved hang-out space, centred around a specimen tree, that will provide shade over time
  • After careful consideration, we have decided to raise the retaining wall a little, to address the debris coming onto the safety surfacing. There will be a step up on the southern end, so the children can still access the area easily, either from this end or the existing access point from the north (leading to the Play Centre gate).
