Wellington is a Peace City, under the Mayors For Peace organisation and so the inclusion of the The International Peace Symbol is correct

This petition was declined for the following reason:

The Council logo will not be changing. This is because it was recently redesigned, and adopted as our refreshed branding across Council and our Council Controlled Organisations. Changing the logo and its use across all Council activities would incur substantial cost which is not justified in light of the recent change. Therefore, this ePetition will not be advanced.
