Background information
The City to Sea Bridge is one of the defining characteristics of the inner city. It is a lovely place that many people, friends and families alike choose to spend time. It has a beautiful view and a real amount of character to it.
On 5 Dec ‘24, the Council voted to demolish the City to Sea Bridge due to earthquake risk and to replace it with a large pedestrian crossing. This was done instead of remediating the risk, as it was deemed ‘too costly’ by our councillors.
