Change of ownership

If your dog's situation has changed, you will need to let us know.

You will need to let us know if:

  • you are taking ownership of a registered dog from someone else
  • you are transferring ownership of a registered dog to someone else
  • your dog has died.

Under the Dog Control Act, you must, within 14 days, let us know the residential address of the new owner and the address where the dog will be kept.

Fill in the form below with the old and new owner details. Only one of the owners needs to fill in the form, but having both sets of details will make the process easier.

If your dog has died

You can also use the change of details form to let us know if your dog has died. If you would like to request a refund of your registration fees, you will need to include confirmation of your bank details. For more information, see:
