Local government has an important role to play in promoting the social, cultural, environmental, and economic wellbeing of people and communities.
One way we contribute to this is funding for community organisations and businesses. The funds below are administered by Council and loosely categorised by wellbeing areas.
Arts and culture
Arts and Culture Annual Stability Fund
This fund supports an annual calendar of arts and cultural activity in Pōneke.
Arts and Culture Living Wage Fund
This fund supports arts and culture projects that need targeted support to pay artists and arts workers the living wage.

This fund supports arts and cultural organisations' infrastructure and programmes for up to three years.

This fund supports the viability and sustainability of established community gardens in Wellington.
Waste Minimisation Seed Fund
This fund supports development of innovative solutions for reducing waste, so that Wellingtonians can be leaders in waste minimisation.
Social wellbeing
Betty Campbell Accommodation Assistance
This grant is for rental costs for office space in the central city for organisations delivering services that promote social well-being for Wellingtonians.
C H Izard Bequest
This grant helps charitable causes in great need.
Community Facility Partnership Fund
This fund supports the planning, development, and renewal of community facilities that are accessible, sustainable, and meet the diverse needs of Wellington’s communities.
Mayoral Relief Fund
One-off emergency relief is available to people in Wellington who are in need of help in the form of food, shelter and clothing.
Sports Event Partnership Fund
The Sports Event Partnership Fund has been established to support mid-tier sport and recreation events.

To encourage economic development and recognise the strategic importance of green certified buildings and accessible design across newly built and refurbished residential and commercial developments in Wellington.
Joe Aspell Trust (no longer available)
The Joe Aspell Trust distributed funds to community organisations serving socially disadvantaged young people living in Wellington.
