Trading and events in our Town Belt and reserves

See where and what type of commercial activity you can carry out on the Wellington Town Belt and in reserves.

Types of activities

We have identified sites on the Wellington Town Belt and in our reserves, parks and gardens where people can run the following mobile trading, activities and events with approval from Council officers:

  • Stationary activities – food and beverage carts and trucks, and recreation equipment hire
  • Mobile activities – professional dog walking and training
  • Mobile and stationary activities – commercial lessons, coaching, group fitness, tours/guides, and events

All activities must be low-impact, temporary and follow the rules and guidelines set out in the policy, legislation, and any relevant management plans.

If your activity doesn't fall into these three groups, contact our Park Rangers team to discuss further – email: busparkrangers@wcc.govt.nz

For stationary activities, you can apply for approval to use any of the following sites. We've organised our sites across Wellington into their relevant wards. However, Council officers will provide more detailed locations as a part of the approval process.
