About the project
The upgrades included:
- installing the new footpath
- constructing new 40m long retaining wall
- installing handrails
- improved delineation by way of road marking and priority control at the narrow section of Rangiora Avenue
- improving traffic flow by installing ‘No Stopping At All Times’ (NSAAT) restrictions.
Our next steps are to build the timber staircase from Rangiora Avenue to Hutt Road while retaining and protecting two Pohutukawa trees in this area.
Updates
November 2020
Amendments to the staircase alignment are currently underway to ensure the protection of two Pohutukawa trees. The new alignment will require the removal of one tree, mitigation measures such as pest plant removals, and additional tree planting will be implemented.
Due to contractor availability constraints, the works will resume in February 2021 for 6 weeks.
