Breaker Bay seawall construction

We constructed a seawall on Breaker Bay Road.

About the project

We constructed a new 42-metre seawall on Breaker Bay Road, 70-metre north of 53 Breaker Bay Road.

This installation included reinforcing concrete piles, anchors and precast concrete wall panels, as well as constructing a temporary retaining wall to facilitate permanent works.

Work began Monday 30 January 2023 and was completed on Friday 8 September 2023.

Retaining and Civil Construction Limited carried out this work.

Traffic management

During construction, traffic management was operational around the worksite. The road always remained open for vehicle, cyclist and pedestrian access. The road was under the control of a portable traffic light. Traffic controllers may have directed traffic during working hours.

You were still able to access the beach, but part of the Breaker Bay car park area was unavailable for the duration of the project as the carpark formed part of the work site. Any vehicles obstructing work areas or traffic, may have been towed to a nearby suitable area.

As part of the road reinstatement/maintenance works, a road closure was in place on Breaker Bay Road between Inglis Street/Mantell Street intersection (Pass of Branda) and #53 Breaker Bay Road. These closures were in place from Tuesday 6 September and Wednesday 7 September between the hours of works 9am-4:30pm. These dates were weather dependent.
