E-kiosk at Wellington International Airport
In partnership with Victoria University of Wellington (VUW), Wellington City Libraries has installed New Zealand’s first library book lending machine, Anytime Library. Located at Victoria’s Kelburn campus, it gives users fast and convenient access to over 300 books, which can be returned easily at the same location.
Anyone who has a Wellington City Library card can use the Anytime Library, and people working or studying in Wellington can join for free even if they don’t live in the Capital.
The second exciting addition is a digital e-kiosk located at Wellington International Airport. The machine provides access to over 40,000 eBooks and eAudio titles from the Wellington City Library’s digital collection.
Members of Wellington City Libraries have unlimited access, and non-members can get up to three downloads for free.
Libraries have to provide a comprehensive service to remain relevant today says Libraries and Community Spaces Team Leader Chris Pigott.
“A library is more than a building full of books. We are part of a dynamic modern environment that calls for adaptation with technology and increased accessibility.
“These two latest initiatives complement the other services we provide like the online heritage projects, electronic databases, plus huge collections of digital magazines, audio books, and zines,” adds Chris.
Victoria University librarian, Janet Fletcher, says this new service will be welcomed by Victoria’s many avid readers.
“We are pleased to be involved with this new initiative. Having this machine on campus will contribute to our student and staff experience, as well as continuing to strengthen our relationship with Wellington City Libraries.”
