Become a Tawa Community Board member

23 November 2016

Are you passionate about your community, and live in Tawa? The Tawa Community Board has a vacancy for a member as a result of Jill Day being elected to Council in October’s local body elections.

Wellington City Council’s Electoral Officer, Warwick Lampp, says the Tawa Community Board is an important link to Council.

“Community is the heart of Tawa, and the board is an important voice for its residents. Tawa has some big issues around housing, transport and its CBD upgrade over the next few years. If you are passionate about these subjects and your community, I encourage you to throw your hat in the ring.”

Nominations for the position open tomorrow, Thursday 24 November 2016. Nomination forms are available from the Tawa Library, 158 Main Road Tawa, the City Service Centre, City Council office, 101 Wakefield Street, Wellington or download from Tawa Community Board by-election.

“Candidates are encouraged to submit a profile statement and recent photograph for sending out with voting documents to electors if an election is required,” says Lampp. “The requirements for profile statements and photos are set out in a candidate information sheet which is available with the nomination form.”

Completed nomination documents must be received by the Electoral Officer no later than 12 noon on Thursday 22 December 2016. Each nomination must be accompanied by a deposit of $200 incl GST, payable by online banking, (details available on the nomination form) eftpos, cash or cheque. Your nomination form, profile statement and photo can also be emailed to wellingtoncc@electionz.com
