Aotea Quay on-ramp closures

17 August 2015

The Aotea Quay motorway on-ramp will be closed overnight this week while work happens on the overbridge above.

The closures will happen Sunday to Thursday nights (August 16 to 20) from 10.30pm to 5.30am.

A detour will be in place via the Aotea Quay overbridge and Hutt Road, which will allow people heading out of the city to get on to State Highway 1 or 2 at the Ngauranga interchange. Alternatively, drivers may want to use one of the other motorway on-ramps.

The closures are required for safety reasons as work will be going on above the ramp on the Aotea Quay overbridge.

Between mid-June and October, the concrete panels on the sides of the overbridge are being replaced or repaired. The work is the final stage of a $1.85 million programme designed to maintain the 1936 structure and make it safer.
