Have your say on the Council's Pokies policy
22 April 2015
Wellington City Council’s policy covering non-casino gaming machines – or pokie machines and gambling at TABs is up for review.
Written submissions are now being called for on the policy which manages the risk of gambling harm and a framework for how gambling is managed in the City.
Recommended changes in the draft Gambling Venues policy include lowering the maximum limits so that no more than two additional venues can be established in any zone, and to allow venues to relocate and take their existing entitlement of machines with them provided it is within Wellington’s central zone and would not be increasing the limit of machines in this zone.
Councillor Paul Eagle says “it’s important that the people have a say on how gambling operates in the City and this is their opportunity to do so”.
