Our Heritage Story Map gives you the opportunity to see our city’s World War I heritage places with fresh eyes.
Wellington heritage story map
World War I not only left marks upon the lives of every New Zealander but also upon the fabric of our cities.
Through our heritage places, the story of Wellington’s involvement can be told, commemorating the individuals who made their mark during the war and carrying the legacy of our contribution to the war through time.
Our Story Map gives you the opportunity to see our city’s World War I heritage places with fresh eyes. It combines satellite photography of contemporary Wellington with images and stories from the war. It also allows you to explore a 1915 map of the city, providing an evocative reminder that sites familiar to us were also part of the daily lives of those who experienced this era of New Zealand’s history.
Our World War I Heritage Story Map works on most modern devices.
