3 October 2014
We're doing some maintenance on the planted areas running down lower Cuba Street so they drain more easily and also making other improvements in the area in time for summer.
New Alder trees will be underplanted with low-growing native plants and the soil in the planter will be covered with the same stone paving that is used around the street trees in other parts of the city including Willis and Manners streets. The surfacing material will provide a cleaner and safer finish for pedestrians and is porous so the trees can still be watered by the rain.
New bike stands and new-look rubbish bins are also being installed as part of this project.
The work is being done in sections to help minimise disruption and should be finished by the end of October 2014.
