This year there are over 80 events - with more than 200 performers, covering everything from Gardens Magic and the New Year’s Day picnic, to Chinese New Year, Pasifika and Te Rā O Waitangi, Films by Starlight, and the Newtown Festival.
“We are proud to produce and support such a wide programme of events, celebrating diversity, community and culture across Wellington - not just in the central city but also in our suburbs,” says Councillor Paul Eagle, Council’s Chair of the Community, Sport and Recreation Committee, who launched the programme last night at the City Gallery.
“The lineup this year really does have something for all the family to enjoy, including two new ‘Gardens Magic for Kids’ events at the Botanic Garden Soundshell.”
“We are looking forward to a long summer of Absolutely Positively free, Absolutely Positively fun events and we want Wellingtonians to share their summer stories with us using the hashtag #WgtnSummerCity,” says Councillor Eagle.
Brochures are available at stands around the city, as well as at Council libraries, swimming pools and recreation centres.
