Are you handy with a hook or mean with the needles? We're calling all knitters, crocheters, and enthusiastic wannabe craftspeople to help us make blankets to keep Wellingtonians warm this summer.
Wellingtonians love Wellington City Council’s Summer City events but when the sun goes down they are reminded just how close Wellington is to Antarctica.
Our aim is to create 50 blankets, which will be hired out at Summer City events for a small fee. Once the chill winds of autumn blow again we will gift the blankets to charities.
All you and/or your craft group need to do is create a blanket by 20 December. It can be as big or small as you like – the main purpose is a knee rug.
If you can’t get around to making a whole blanket we invite you to make peggy squares – any colour, any ply, any design but preferably 200mm x 200mm in size.
Please drop it into the Council reception or arrange a time with us and we will collect it.
All offers of spare wool greatly appreciated. By our powers combined, the good people of Wellington will shiver no more. Let’s get this ball of wool rolling!
