30 July 2013

The spray pools at Wellington Regional Aquatic Centre will be getting a much needed spruce-up starting Monday 19 August.

The pools, children’s area and changing rooms will be closed for six weeks while we carry out the pools’ first scheduled five-yearly maintenance, reopening on Saturday 28 September.

Julian Todd, the Council’s Recreation Wellington Manager, says there’ll be major servicing work done on the pool pumps, valves and filters, which keep the pool operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and the heating and ventilation plant.

“We’ll also be checking and repairing the membrane on the bottom of the pools, as well as floors and tiles, cleaning the ceiling and beams that hold up the roof and finishing off with a fresh coat of paint all round.”

You’ll still be able to access the café as usual - all our other pools at the Aquatic Centre will be open.

We look forward to providing you with a freshened-up facility in the coming weeks.
