Check You are Enrolled to Vote
9 July 2013
If you’re eligible to vote in the upcoming local body elections, you should have received an enrolment update pack in the mail last week.
Local body elections take place between 20 September and 12 October, so make sure you’re on the electoral roll.
If you’ve received a pack, check your details. If they’re correct you don’t need to do anything - your voting papers will be sent to you from 20 - 25 September.
If you need to update them, make the changes on the form and post it to the Registrar of Electors now.
If you haven’t received a pack, you’re not enrolled to vote. It’s easy to enrol - to get a pack either:
- visit Enrol, Check or Update Now - Elections NZ
- freetext your name and address to 3676
- phone 0800 36 76 56
- visit any PostShop
- pick up an enrolment / update form from Electoral Officer Charlie Inggs at the Council offices, 101 Wakefield Street.
You should enrol to vote by Friday 16 August.
Otherwise you’ll have to cast a special vote, and that means contacting Electoral Officer Charlie Inggs to obtain special voting papers.
