Work Begins on Miramar Town Centre

23 April 2013

Next week, we’ll start work on improving the Miramar town centre, particularly at the Park Road lay-by between Miramar Avenue and the Natural Health Centre.

The works will include rearranging the car parks along the lay-by to make room for a pedestrian plaza in front of the Roxy Cinema, raising the pedestrian crossing along Miramar Avenue, new lighting and seating, new landscaping and street trees, refurbishing the heritage tram shelter, and relocating the toilet block to the corner of Park Road and Miramar Avenue.

The improvements will create a long-desired civic space for the community, one which will encourage more people to visit, shop and do business.

The work will significantly enhance the look and feel of the town centre and is key to revitalising the area, so we hope you can bear with us over the next few months while it takes place.

Our contractor will make sure that people can still get to all shops and businesses at all times, however detours will be necessary at times and there will be some noise and inconvenience in the area.

When work starts, we will be sending out a weekly email newsletter to keep people up-to-date with our progress. To sign up for the newsletter and for information, please email: miramar@wcc.govt.nz
