Keep Your Home Warm & Dry
13 June 2011
Now the temperature's dropping, we'd like to remind you what's available to help you warm up your home.
The Council funds the Wellington Sustainability Trust to provide an advice centre giving free, expert advice on how to save energy in your home. Staff can advise you on everything from insulation and heating to hot water and ventilation. They'll help you keep your home warm and dry this winter - and save money while you do it.
They'll also help you find out more about the Government's Warm Up New Zealand scheme, where you can get financial assistance to insulate your home, no matter what you're earning.
The Sustainability Trust also runs the Wellington Curtain Bank - an initiative offering people with Community Services Cards free curtains if they're currently without.
The curtain bank runs on donations, so round up your spare curtains, fabric and curtain rails - all are gratefully received. You can find the curtain bank at 8 Horner Street in Newtown between 10.00am and 4.00pm, Tuesday to Thursday.
