Pumpkin Growing Competition
14 March 2011
Have you grown a pumpkin this year that you are really proud of? Or even one that is just odd-looking? Here's your chance to show off your produce and win a prize.
Looking for the biggest, ugliest, best-dressed, most unusual and cutest pumpkins
To celebrate autumn, Wellington Botanic Garden is holding a pumpkin contest. There are five categories - biggest, ugliest, best-dressed, most unusual and cutest - so almost any pumpkin stands a chance. If you've grown a really big pumpkin, the Botanic Garden will even lend you a wheelbarrow to help get your entry from the main gate to the Treehouse.
Entries will be accepted from now until
12 noon Wednesday 13 April and Mayor Celia Wade-Brown will judge them at 1.00pm on that day. Commonsense Organics, Twigland Johnsonville and Picnic cafe are providing prizes to the value of $100 for each category and Kings Seeds are supporting the contest with seeds and advice for growing pumpkins next year.
Entry forms are available from the Treehouse, Botanic Garden gift shop or online:
