Council Opens Christchurch Earthquake Condolence Book

4 March 2011

Wellington City Council would like to invite members of the public to sign a condolence book for those affected by the Christchurch earthquake.

Mayor Celia Wade-Brown expressed her sympathies for all who lost family and friends during the disaster.  She has been heartened by the support that has poured in - not only from other cities and towns in New Zealand, but from around the world.

The pages will be available for messages in the foyer of the main Council building in Wakefield Street until the end of March.  They will then be bound into a book to be sent to Christchurch's Mayor, Bob Parker.

"We will continue to do what we can to see that Christchurch is able to recover.  Our thoughts are with those who suffered loss," Mayor Wade-Brown said.
