Waterloo Quay Changes
21 February 2011
When rail tracks that cross Waterloo Quay are realigned this weekend, we'll be putting rubber around them to make them safer for cyclists.
The rubber will make the ride over the rail crossing smoother and less hazardous.
The realignment near Cornwell Street is being done as part of the work under way to create a more attractive walking and cycling path between the cruise ship terminal and the city.
The crossing needs to be realigned because the rail line that runs along the port side of Waterloo Quay is being progressively shifted closer to the harbour to make room for the new pathway.
The work is due to start this Friday 25 February after 8.00pm and continue over the weekend and will cause some disruption. Drivers need to take care and be patient as the road will be down to one lane in each direction at times. If it's wet, the work will be postponed until next weekend.
