New Year's Eve

20 December 2010

We're taking a different approach to New Year's Eve - moving away from a concert format to a more chilled out event this year.

Have a stroll around the waterfront and Civic Square and take in all the different sights and sounds.

There'll be buskers with speakers at three different points - the pyramid on the City to Sea Bridge, by the lagoon and on the Te Papa forecourt. Between them, there will be other performers such as fire-dancers and performance artists.

There will also be children's entertainers in the square from 8.30pm onwards before the much-loved kids' countdown at 9.00pm.

So combine the buskers, extra lighting on the waterfront, fire dancers, food stalls, coffee stalls and music and it'll make for a lovely evening. All we need is a calm night weather-wise. Look out for the clocks that will be projected onto Te Papa and the Michael Fowler Centre at Civic Square and join in with our MC/busker for the countdown at midnight.
