Southern Landfill Queues
15 November 2010
We've noticed some people get a bit frustrated while waiting to leave the landfill. We have a few recommendations to make this easier for you.
Head to the landfill early if you want to avoid queues like this
First, it's only from about 2.00pm until 5.00pm on weekend days that there are sometimes delays at the landfill - the queues start after people have dumped their stuff at the transfer station, and finish after people have paid at the kiosk. So, we recommend not going to the landfill at that time if possible.
Landfill Manager Darren Hoskins says he is looking into ways of improving customer service and efficiency at the landfill which will help alleviate the congestion at peak times. "However, if you come to the landfill in the late afternoon, you might have to be prepared to sit in your car for at least 20 minutes waiting to get out," he says.
Darren recommends trying to avoid visiting the landfill at peak times and having cash ready on the way out instead of using EFTPOS.
"Or perhaps buy a book from the landfills second treasure recycle shop and be prepared to read a couple of chapters on the way out.
