Recycle Your eWaste

1 November 2010

On Saturday (6 November) you can recycle your eWaste for free and know that it will be disposed of in an environmentally friendly way.

Bring along anything from your old cellphones to monitors, CPUs, printers and laptops and we'll dispose of it in our one-day only drive-through operation at Westpac Stadium.

Why should you bother? Because eWaste contains many toxic substances that are harmful to humans and damaging to the environment. These include lead, mercury, cadmium, dioxins and chromium.

We've got together with the Ministry for the Environment, which oversees the eWaste disposal under guidelines set by the Basel Convention, an international treaty that ensures that any eWaste exported for processing is sent to a facility with appropriate environmentally sound management and processes.
