Called 'Get Set Create', the Wellington City Council event at Te Papa will be hosted by MC Te Radar and includes live music by Beyondsemble. It kicks off at 2.00pm and finishes at around 4.00pm.
City Events Manager Lauren Fantham says this is a great way to see how WOW entrants take an idea, apply their own special technique and come up with an art / fashion statement that has that WOW factor.
"Working under pressure against the clock will surely bring out the best of their creativity," says Lauren. "Anyone thinking about submitting a design in future years might be able to pick up a few tips."
Materials will include things like paper, fabric, ice block sticks, wire and foam. Designers have about an hour to make their creation in time to be modelled by WOW models. The winner will receive Montana champagne and a dinner for two at Hippopotamus restaurant.
Designers are not the only ones who'll get prizes on the day - the audience could win spot prizes including WOW goodie-bags and family passes to Zealandia.
Now in its sixth year in Wellington, the Montana World of WearableArt Awards Show brings to life more than 190 garments in a theatrical extravaganza of music, drama, choreography, lighting and comedy. The shows start on Thursday 23 September and run until Sunday
