Thousands of Wellingtonians Taken off Electoral Roll

12 August 2010

Almost 4,000 Wellingtonians have been taken off the electoral roll because they have moved house and not updated their address details. This means they are not eligible to vote in either the local or general elections.

Wellingtonians have just over a week to enrol to vote in the City Council, Regional Council and Capital & Coast District Health Board elections which will be held on 9 October. They must be enrolled by Friday 20 August at the latest.

Enrolment forms are available from the Elections New Zealand website, by free texting your name and address to 3676, from your local PostShop or by calling 0800 ENROL NOW (0800 36 76 56). You can also check your details and enrol online at:

If people are still thinking about running for Mayor, Councillor, Community Board member or District Health Board member, they also need to get their nominations in by 12 noon on Friday 20 August.
