The competition will be open to three age groups including 5 - 7 years, 8 - 10 years and an open section for under 12 years.

This is a street and vert competition and will feature a 1.2m high ramp, boxes, quarter pipes, table tops, ramps, pyramids, wedge ramps and launch ramps.

The competition will be judged by three skateboarding experts - Jarrod Woodfield (Cheapskates), Harris Taylor (Element) and Guy Collier (Kilbirnie Recreation Centre).

Steve Gregory, Manager Kilbirnie Recreation Centre, says the competition has been in response to the increasing popularity of skateboarding among young people and offers them a chance to put their skills to the test.

"This is a fantastic opportunity for kids to show off their tricks, win cool prizes and have a skate around Kilbirnie Recreation Centre's unique indoor skate park."

Registrations for all competitions open at 12 noon, heats kick off at 1.00pm and the event ends at 4.00pm. There is a $10 entry fee (spectators are free).

Helmets are required and will be provided free of charge. Children under 10 years of age will need to be supervised.
