The Council is calling for proposals to develop the former toilet building at the intersection of Courtenay Place and Taranaki Street.

The single-level building was built in 1911 and has a heritage listing in Wellington's District Plan.

Council Principal Property Advisor Tracy Morrah says the Council would like to see the building adapted for another use that will acknowledge its heritage values and contribute to the vibrancy of the surrounding area.

"People shouldn't be limited in their ideas and are encouraged to submit proposals that are creative."

Applications open 9 June, with proposals due by 4 August 2010. For more information contact Tracy Morrah on (04) 803 8678 or email
