Youthspective Competition Winners

3 May 2010

We had an enthusiastic response to our recent Youthspective photo competition, which gave budding photographers aged 10 - 18 years a chance to show their unique take on our city - and win a new camera.

A total of 85 young photographers registered for the competition, and sent us more than 100 diverse photos.

The winner of the 15 - 18-year category was 18-year-old Alexander Garside for his photo of Wellington at night, titled Shimmer.

In the 10 - 14-year category, 12-year-old Pearl Chapman was the winner with her photo, Sunshine over airport.

All the photos are displayed on our website - people visited the site and voted for their favourite in the People's Choice Award.

Mayor Kerry Prendergast presented the winners and runners-up with their prizes at a ceremony at the Wellington Town Hall. You can view the winning photos and all the entries by visiting the photo gallery part of the Youthspective Photo Competition section on this website.
