Biodiversity & the Berhampore Nursery
10 May 2010
Calling all green-thumbs! Berhampore Nursery is having its annual open day this Saturday (15 May), and this year's theme is 'biodiversity in the backyard'.
2010 is International Year of Biodiversity. There'll be talks explaining biodiversity, why it's a good thing and how everyone can help support it.
"New Zealand has a unique native biodiversity which we can all contribute to and enhance in our own backyards," says Nursery Manager Nicky OliverSmith.
"Knowing a little bit about the valuable relationships that make up the natural environment goes a long way."
As usual there will also be pruning demonstrations, displays by local gardening, horticultural and environmental groups, the opportunity to get expert advice and of course - the chance to buy plants.
The nursery is located at the end of Emerson Street. Gates will be open from 10.00am until 2.00pm. Entry is free.
