Easter on the Walkways

29 March 2010

The Easter bunny is already hiding the chocolate eggs - just in time for Sunday and the big Easter egg hunt at Charles Plimmer Park.

Bring the family and a picnic lunch and join in this Sunday, 4 April, between 10.00am and 2.00pm. Charles Plimmer Park is on the Town Belt, off Majoribanks Street in Mt Victoria.

For kids there are hard-boiled eggs to decorate, egg and spoon races - and prizes. They can follow the Easter bunny and hunt for egg coupons to swap for a chocolate egg. There will be music, a sausage sizzle and a Push Play trailer for even more fun and games.

A park ranger will give a rundown on Wellington walkways and then lead a 30-minute guided walk along the Southern Walkway.

Easter weekend is a great time to get out along the city's seven walkways before winter. You can now download the new Welly Walks iPhone application for free from iTunes, print maps from the Feeling Great website or pick up copies of Explore Wellington brochures from the Railway Station or i-SITE Visitor Centre (corner Victoria and Wakefield streets).

If the weather is wet, the fun will move to Crossways Community Centre in Roxburgh Street.
