New Arts Market Opens

8 December 2009

A vibrant arts market will open this Saturday (12.12.09) in the Frank Kitts car park next to the lagoon.

Mayor Kerry Prendergast will cut a ribbon at 9.30am to officially open the market. The market will run from 10.00am to 4.00pm every Saturday, and will have around 120 stalls - each hand-picked.

There will be entertainment from local musicians and performers, and there's a dedicated area for buskers as well as a street theatre and performance area.

The market, which is supported by a Council grant, is the brainchild of
Helena Tobin and Wendy Jasper who have worked hard to find people making high-quality and unique clothing, jewellery, gifts and homewares.

"We want to appeal to families who are looking for affordable, cultural weekend activities they can attend in any weather," says Helena.
