A best-of-the-best rose show, guided tours, artists at work and guidance from experts are just some of the events on offer at the Botanic Garden's three-day Rose Festival, starting this Friday. For rose enthusiasts, the Wellington Rose Society's annual show in the Begonia House, Lady Norwood Rose Garden, on Sunday will be a must.
There will also be a chance to ask questions of an expert, the Lady Norwood Rose Garden curator, on Friday. People who just love roses can join a guided walk through the hundreds of old-fashioned rose blooms in Bolton Street Memorial Park.
Keen photographers will want to enter their rose photos in the photo competition, and you can also watch botanical artist Kerry Duckmanton at work, as well as Watercolour New Zealand artists painting. Plus, anyone named Rose gets a free coffee from Picnic Café!
