Thorndon Heritage Consultation Extension
13 October 2009
A few months ago, we told you how heritage and residential areas in Thorndon could be managed in the future. We embarked on a community consultation with the initial closing date for feedback of 6 November.
Since then, we've talked with the Thorndon Residents Association and heard concerns that the timing was a bit tight. So we've formed a partnership with them to develop a more extensive consultation programme.
The Council's Principal Heritage Advisor, Vivien Rickard, says we want to make sure the concerns of residents are fully understood before any decisions are made about new District Plan rules.
"We're looking for realistic and practical ways to manage the suburb's important heritage features and streetscapes, while at the same time making sure that residents are able to live in comfortable homes and take advantage of modern living standards," says Vivien.
Keep an eye on our website, and on the Our Wellington page for developments. We will also mail further details to Thorndon ratepayers in the next month.
