Tulip Sunday at the Botanic Garden

22 September 2009

Celebrate the arrival of spring by turning the clocks forward this Sunday (27 September) and making
your way to the ever-popular Tulip Sunday at the Botanic Garden.

Tulip Sunday is the 'jewel in the crown' of the Spring Festival and is a great chance to see one of the country's biggest displays of tulips blooming in a blaze of colour. The tulip bulbs may have come from Southland but Wellington's Dutch community still provides the traditional food, music and dancing that helps make the day so special.

Getting to the Botanic Garden is easy with a free uphill ride on the Cable Car between 12noon - 2.00pm if you present the coupon from the festival brochure. Just follow the distinctive pink and purple painted flowers on the footpath from the top of the Cable Car downhill to the tulips or enter the garden from Glenmore Street.

Music starts at 11.30am in the Soundshell. For more information on Spring Festival, pick up a brochure from stands around town, go to our website or call us on (04) 499 4444.
