Wellington Celebrates Industry Training

24 August 2009

More than 120 Wellingtonians will graduate from apprenticeships and trade training schemes on Thursday
27 August in a ceremony hosted by the Council and supported by the Wellington branch of the
Electrical Contractors' Association.

Council Strategy Coordinator Nicola Old says trainees will graduate from a whole range of trades - hairdressing, painting, contact centre operations, building, parking, residential care, security, retail, carpentry, electrical engineering and automotive engineering, to name just a few.

"The Council's proud to support this celebration of industry training success. Wellington needs an experienced and skilled workforce to remain internationally competitive and these graduates will help our region thrive. Congratulations to these Wellingtonians who've chosen trade training - from young people entering the workforce to mature people who've decided to retrain and upskill."
