Grants Available for Community Projects

7 January 2009

Wellington City Council is urging not-for-profit community groups and organisations to apply for funding through the upcoming rounds of the Tawa Community Grants Fund and the CH Izard Bequest, which close on Friday 30 January.

The Tawa Community Grants provide financial support to a wide range of voluntary groups in the Tawa area. Grants may go to projects which support social, cultural, sporting or educational development in the Tawa community. People representing New Zealand in a recognised sporting or cultural event may also be eligible for grants. Around $15,000 is available each year, with individual grants ranging from $300 to $2,000.

The CH Izard Bequest has funding available for charitable projects which support community education or assist socially-disadvantaged groups within the Wellington rate-paying area. Around $25,000 is available each year, and groups can apply for up to $5,000.

Applications for these grants close at 5.00pm on Friday 30 January.
