My principal place of residence is in the Pukehīnau/Lambton Ward area.
I'm a proud Wellingtonian. I was born in Newtown Hospital, raised in Mt Victoria and Kelburn, attended school in Thorndon and Island Bay, and began my career at the Evening Post as a journalist.
As an experienced, independent, liberal, centre-right councillor (first elected in 2013) Wellington, not party politics, is my focus. I've driven the CBD laneway upgrades that are breathing life into Wellington's commercial heart and making the city safer; opposed Council's wasteful spending as our focus must be on essential, expensive projects such the Town Hall & Civic Square; championed our arts, culture and heritage, attending 3-4 arts events most weeks; and launched our heritage plaques programme.
I want Wellington to be a vibrant affordable city, with core services delivered well, and I'm really worried about the 50% proposed rates increase over the next decade. Council must tighten its belt - there's too much talking, and not enough action!
