Candidate statement
An established resident of Makara since 2010 having moved from the UK with my wife and two children, taking on cattle, sheep, fencing, native planting, and firewood amongst many unplanned new lifestyle skills, the title 'accidental farmer' captures our situation well!
Unable to imagine ever living in suburbia again, we are fully committed to living in Makara, and I am keen to represent the community on local issues and concerns, and also to ensure we make the most of any opportunities or funding to benefit residents.
The Community Board has a key role to play in advocating for the community, helping to evolve Council policy, plans, the District Plan, and also ensuring high standards of Council funded services and infrastructure. As a professional Project and Commercial Manager, and current Committee member at Karori Golf Club, I believe I could add real value to the Community Board if elected.
