Travel costs for Council and Wellington Zoo
The New Zealand Taxpayers Union requested information about the costs, itineraries and expenses related to both domestic and international travel for the Wellington City Council and for Council Controlled Organisations.
We asked all Council Controlled Organisations to respond directly with their information.
Wellington Zoo asked that we provide their information along with ours.
There are times when staff and elected representatives need to travel both domestically and internationally as part of their work. We have a travel and accommodation policy that ensures travel costs are managed appropriately and that staff travel is approved at the appropriate level, for example all international staff travel must be approved by the Chief Executive. Travel costs for elected representatives is manged through the City Strategy Committee process.

Wellington City Council Gift register
Melissa Nightingale from the New Zealand Herald requested information relating to gifts and donations received by the Council over the past year, including donations and gifts given for specific purposes. Below is the summary of information from the Council’s gift register. Note donations received by the Council are outlined in the Annual Report which is published in October.
Wellington City Council Culture and Climate Surveys

Swimming pool trespass notices
Fairfax Media requested information on the number of trespass notices issued in relation to the Council-owned public swimming pools in the past 3 years, and the reasons for the issuing of the trespass notices. We responded by email and advised:
I am able to advise you that in the past 3 years to date there has been only one (1) Trespass Act section 4 trespass notice, issued preventing a person from accessing Council-owned swimming pools. This occurred in February 2014, and is therefore expired (Under the Trespass Act, a section 4 trespass is for 2 years from the date of service). The trespass was issued for abusive and threatening behaviour.
Request from NZ Taxpayers' Union for information held on economic reports on a proposed runway extension at Wellington International Airport, and the possibility of higher landing charges for airlines.

Wellington-Canberra-Singapore air service
Request from the Dominion Post (Hamish Rutherford) in January 2016 for any written material used by the Council's chief executive Kevin Lavery in coming to his decision to provide marketing support from the Destination Wellington fund to the proposed Wellington-Canberra-Singapore air service.
