Backyard Tāonga

As part of our work to prepare for population growth, we’ve been working with ecology and landscape specialists to identify important areas of native bush and landscapes around the city.

Some of these are on private land and could mean changes for landowners when we review the District Plan in 2020.

During September and October 2019 we are writing to landowners to ask them to help us find the right balance between protection and practical use – we don’t want to introduce anything that gets in the way of day to day use and maintenance.
