Marshall Court is on the corner of Park Road and Tahi Street in Miramar, Wellington.
The project started in September 2013. Estimated completion date is early 2015.
Facilities and features
The new four-storey building will have a range of features to make it accessible for people with limited mobility:
- 27 one-bedroom apartments, designed to cater for single people or couples with limited mobility
- fittings to meet the needs of aging tenants or those with limited mobility, for example, level-access showers, wide doors, power points and cupboards at a suitable height, and appropriate taps
- a communal outdoor space that will include allotment gardens, seating and washing lines
- insulation, glazing and ventilation (as with all our upgrade projects, we pay particular attention to creating warm, dry homes).

The new Marshall Court
The new Marshall Court will provide modern warm homes for people who have limited mobility
This new social housing complex replaces the old Marshall Court housing block demolished in September last year. The new complex will be of a similar size to the previous building and in the same location within the site - minimising any negative effect to neighbours.
Tenants were involved throughout the design stages of the project and we will be working with them to build a strong community spirit in the new complex.
The complex will provide a community room for Marshall Court tenants, which can also be a meeting point for other Miramar City Housing tenants. The existing car park will be landscaped to provide the communal outdoor spaces so parking will be reduced within the site. We've also included a fully enclosed mobility scooter shed in the Marshall Court design.
The apartments will feature easy-access showers, wider doorways suitable for people using walking aids, cupboards and power points will be positioned for easy access, level entry to the ground floor apartments and lifts to the other floors.
There is a well serviced bus route nearby and suburban shops and services such as a library, garden centre, cinema and supermarket are within walking distance.
