Be a pirate for a day
Arrr... Practice your pirate skills with a trip to the new pirate ship at Churchill Park Play Area in Seatoun. While you’re there, take a stroll up the Oru-arrr-iti Reserve walkway and admire the view.
Give the whole family a workout
Take your kurī to the city’s biggest fenced dog park at Ian Galloway Park for off-leash fun. Once they’re tuckered out, you can get some exercise yourself. Strap on your knee pads and whoosh over some bumps at the brand new BMX track (or let the kids show you how it’s done).
Love your leftovers
Learn clever ways to use up leftovers and “old” food at our Love Food Hate Waste cooking classes. They happen the first Saturday of every month from 10am to 12 noon at Crave Cooking School in Lyall Bay, and cost $5 per person. For details, check out the Love Food Hate Waste event calendar.
Net yourself a good time
Spring is the season to court your partner. Score some points greater than love by getting out to enjoy our flash new tennis nets at Hataitai Park. It’s also a great place to get on your bike and whizz around the velodrome, getting yourself fit for summer.
Visit Truby King on the hill
Discover the hidden gem of the four Wellington Gardens, Truby King Park. Enjoy the blossoming cherry trees that line the driveway, then explore the remnants of Truby King’s rhododendron collection on the bank below the lookout, where there are also camellias in flower.
