What happened to this consultation?

In November 2020, we asked the local community for feedback on a draft concept design for Cummings Park play area.

Next steps – final design plan

We’ve taken your feedback on the draft concept design on board and used it to help develop the final plan.

The main comments we received were around a lack of shade, the provision of play equipment for older children and additional seating – all of these features have been incorporated into the final plan.

The final plan includes a climbing net structure with a slide, a four seat swing set, steppers and balancing equipment, a junior play unit and gyro spinner.

The existing picnic table (greened out on the plan to the south of the swing set) will be retained.

There are also a number of accessible features including all weather safety surfacing and an inclusive swing in addition to the junior part of the concept that is ramp accessible and the gyro spinner that is transferrable for users. There is also an inclusive seat in the four seat swing set, to allow for a wider range of user abilities.

Due to shipping delays, construction is now expected to start 1 July. We have decided to postpone deconstruction for now and leave the current playground open in the interim.
